THE RETURN OF THE FLYING SCOTSMAN

Former World Champion and Hour Record holder Graeme Obree is now preparing to take a crack at the Human Powered Land Speed Record. This is a challenge where Obree can freely apply his genius homebrew innovations, unencumbered by the bureaucracy of the UCI. That said, IHPVA might have their own issues but we’ll see. Good luck, Graeme!

Green girl

US model Genevieve Love Lake part of campaign to get commuters to switch to pedal power.

The 60-second film features US model Genevieve Love Lake, and was made by the Cyclists’ Touring Club (CTC) to target the four million people who regularly drive less than three miles to work.
It depicts anyone using a bike as a superhero, and has been designed to convince motorists to give up their cars for short trips and help “save the planet”.

“A three-mile commute by bicycle would take an average person 20 minutes, and the amount of CO2 a couple would save over the course of a year is equivalent to the weight of a small car,” explained CTC director Kevin Mayne.

Cycle Hero, was made using a £295,000 grant from the environment department DEFRA.
